As
we begin our 3rd full month here at "The River Roost"
I can only say, "Whew - what a ride so far!" Leaping
from the neighborhood bar scene into a full blown restaurant
has become an education in itself to say the least! As many
of you have found out though, our food and service are top notch
and our atmosphere and view are the best. Check out our "on-line
coupon" for a discount on your next visit.
Work
continues on our soon to open "Tropical Island"
that will connect the dock to the restaurant with an area we
hope to adorn with paths , palm trees, picnic tables, a waterfall
and tiki shelter. Possibly even a weekly fishing day for the
youngsters is in the planning.
Our
dock should be fully repaired from the hurricanes of 04/05 by
this writing, however, the water in the lagoon is at its lowest
in years and "local knowledge" and outboard motors
that can be trimmed are a prerequisite for dockage as there
has been no clearly defined channel in the area for years.
We
have started showcasing a few local musicians doing original
music only in acoustic form on the weekends and plan to do some
more in the future. Write
to us and we will e-mail you a music schedule.
Why should
it be free?
From
the lady who likes to park in our lot and let her dog crap on
our property without cleaning it up. To the people who think
it is OK to park here and ride bicycles to the beach while diners
search for a place to park and upon their return do not patronize
our venue. To the boaters who want to tie up at the dock and
walk thru our dining area to 7-11 and walk back thru with beer
and food purchased elsewhere, to the same ilk who think they
can walk thru a restaurant or dining area toting 5 gallons of
gas I have one word for you. NO.
Number
1 - the beer and gas part is illegal and even if it wasn’t
the answer would still be NO.
Parking
is 5 dollars an hour if you are not patronizing the restaurant
and dockage is 10 dollars an hour to patronize the 7-11 and
we will provide you with access other than thru our dining area...
Seem a might steep? Maybe, but to those of you who have the
common courtesy to ask permission you have found we will make
some concessions on a case by case basis.
To
those of you who made it a point to try to sneak around like
common thieves we have not been very accommodating and to those
of you who are in the "something for nothing crowd"
that have been less than civil when politely confronted about
your actions, I can only reply "tuff".
It
ain’t free. I pay - you pay, thats the way it is. I don’t
let my dog crap on your lawn, park in your drive way or carry
gas and beer through your living room and I don’t tie
up at your dock for purposes other than visiting you and I expect
the same. Simple as that.
Boy
could I tell you some stories. Maybe next time, I’m tired
of typing right now. Or stop by and hear them first hand over
a frosty beer.

With that said
...come on out and enjoy the day, and watch this little corner
of paradise evolve, but stay the same... Welcome.
